We are happy to welcome Alfonso San Miguel as Associate Editor to the EPJ – Special Topics (EPJ ST) editorial board. He is joining an international team of highly respected specialists and will be in charge of topical issues in materials science.

Alfonso San Miguel is professor at the University Lyon 1 and president of the Rhône section of the French Physical Society. He explores the physical properties of matter under extreme conditions of pressure and temperature including semiconductors, liquids or simple molecular systems. He presently focuses on the evolution of geometry, topology and dimensionality under extreme conditions, in particular in nanomaterials and low dimensional systems.

Prof. San Miguel enjoys instrumental development and interdisciplinary work combining theory and experience with specialists from different fields (physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering). We are sure that his support will lead to further success for the journal and look forward to working with him.

EPJ - Special Topics is devoted to the publication of complete topical issues in all fields pertaining to the pure and applied physical sciences. If you would like to submit your proposal for a Special Topic, please do so here. Alternatively, check the instructions for authors here.
